Personalized Feed Sack Zipper Clutch
This colorful zipper clutch is personalized with your choice of name or word using brightly colored vintage feedsack fabrics. The body of the bag is made from a natural colored linen burlap fabric, it is fully lined with an off white cotton fabric and the bag closes with a natural colored zipper.
The letters are made from a variety of vintage feed sack fabrics which are hand cut and machine stitched to the front of the bag. Due to the vintage nature of the fabrics, please allow for some variation in the fabrics and placement than those pictured.
Bag measures 9 inches wide by 5 inches tall.
When checking out please leave me a note regarding the name or word you'd like on your bag(s). If you order multiple bags I will alter the placement of the fabrics so each bag will look slightly different (see the last photo).
Please allow up to 2 weeks for production prior to shipping.
The bag is available with the addition of a removable genuine leather wrist strap in a dark brown color. The wrist strap is also handmade by me using a silver clasp and rivets.
A Brief Feed Sack Fabric History:
In the 1920’s manufacturers of sacks used to hold flour, sugar, rice and feed recognized how popular repurposing the plain beige cotton sacks into household items such as curtains, pillows, aprons and towels had become and saw a great marketing opportunity.
They began manufacturing “feed” sacks in a variety of bright colors and prints to appeal to the housewife who would sew them into colorful dresses, pillowcases, aprons and quilts. The 1940’s were the height of the feedsack fabric craze.
My feed sacks are purchased from a variety of vintage sellers and at thrift, flea and antique markets.
